Tarangire is often the first stop on a northern Tanzania safari — and many guests say it surprised them most. In the dry season, the Tarangire River becomes a lifeline that draws hundreds of elephants, along with buffalo, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and the predators that follow them.
The landscape is beautiful in its own way: ancient baobab trees, swamps full of birds and rolling hills. With far fewer vehicles than the Serengeti, it is a calm and rewarding park.
